Potlucks, or shared meals with all participants bringing a dish or two, are a long standing tradition at Shalom Community Church.

Did you say New Zealand???????
We recently started a new tradition of rotating potlucks in the winter. Each month participants are matched up in different groups to allow us to get to know others in the church community.
The dessert eaters - okay that's the lasagna.
The children in my last potluck opted for a cake and dessert potluck. The adults thought there should be more than just desserts, so we compromised on desserts plus. Each family brought one one main dish and a dessert. We had chocolate pecan pie, brownies with chocolate chips, regular brownies and strawberries with whip cream. We also had lasagna, regular and vegetarian, salad, chips and salsa and in honor of St. Patrick's Day, green bread.
Low tech entertainment.
As with all gathering at Shalom gathering, the
conversation is often the best part. We talked about
growing up in Ann Arbor, ask Ethan. Kulaks, ask
Ben,
and learned about the life of an intellectual historian. Alas,
they
all refused to stay and cheer on Iowa in the NCAA tournament and they
went
down to defeat, Iowa that is.
