We
believe the faith community provides the context for faithful living
and
mutual
accountability.
It is from within the community that we find support to maintain lives
of
discipleship
and commitment to Christ. In this spirit, we enter into the
following
covenant
relationship with
one another.
1.
We desire to grow in our relationship with God. We acknowledge that we
are at varying
stages of
maturity
in Christian faith and will support and encourage each other in this
search.
2.
We seek to follow Jesus; we will study his life and teachings and apply
them to our lives.
3.
We value the “Anabaptist vision” and heed its call to discipleship.
4.
We will worship together; we will pray with and for each other.
5.
We will care for one another, sharing our spiritual, emotional,
physical,
and financial
needs
and resources.
6.
Children are an integral part of our congregational life. We will
actively
involve them
according to
their
developmental needs and provide for their moral and spiritual growth.
7.
We will utilize existing gifts and nurture the development of new
skills,
encouraging each other
to use them in
the various activities of congregational life.
8.
We will commit ourselves to seeking and accepting counsel from each
other,
to reprove
and to accept
reproof
as the occasion arises.
9.
We commit ourselves to regularly attend our worship services,
congregational
meetings,
and fellowship
gatherings,
making church life a high priority in our lives.
10.
We value our denominational affiliations with the Church of the
Brethren
and the Mennonite
Church. We
recognize
the importance of being involved in the ministries of the wider church.
11.
We will actively seek to identify community and world needs and will
respond
to them
with our time,
prayers and resources.
12. We commit
ourselves
to live as peacemakers in all areas of our lives, seeking to do God’s
will
in areas of
social
injustice in our community, our nation, and our world.
13. We commit
ourselves
to be witnesses through word and action to God’s good news as revealed
in Jesus Christ.
”Therefore
encourage
one another and build one another up, just as you are.
