**College Student Care Packages --Every year we collect goodies, or money to buy goodies for our college students to get care packages before their final fall term exams.  These packages have gotten rave reviews and many thank you’s.  Betsy Hy will be collecting money or goodies until November 11. She will deliver the majority of the boxes to students or their families on Sunday November 18. She will also need 12 boxes the size xerox paper comes in.  The current students are: Paul V., Rachel V, Anne S., Jon S., Jordan P., Dan P., Jenna B., Clarrisa L., Zack S., Ben H., Liz G., Noah W.. If anyone has been missed, please let her know--761-1768 or by email.

**Rotating Potlucks -- Rotating potlucks will occur on January 19, February 16 and March 15.  Sign up to be a host and or participant by calling or emailing Betsy Hy.  Rotating potlucks
are small potlucks that take place at people's houses and include anywhere from 6-16 people.  If you participate, each month you get to eat with a different group of people each time.
If you host, you host once (generally.)  These potlucks are an excellent way to get to know new people whether you have been around a long time or are new yourself.  You can
participate once or each month.  The host family plans the menu and assigns food to each of the guests.  These are total family affairs.  Most everyone in the church participates.
Betsy Hy is in the process of compiling the lists of folks who want to participate and host and would appreciate you emailing or calling her and letting her know if you want to join the fun.
Please respond whether you have participated before or not.

**The Alternative Bazaar at the First Baptist Church will be on December 2 from approximately 3-7 p.m. with set-up time and take down times on either side. Shalom sponsors a Ten
Thousand Villages sale within the larger bazaar.  We have done this for many years.  Last year, because of the immense popularity and success of the Ten Thousand Villages store
in town, and the increased number of booths at the alternative bazaar, our sales at the bazaar were down.  After talking with people at the national Ten Thousand Villages office, people
at the local store and our congregation, Betsy Hy decided to go ahead with participation in the bazaar this year, to provide our congregants a service opportunity, and to continue to
help the store spread its mission throughout the community.  Betsy will be contacting you about your availability to work at this event.  Or you could contact her.

FROM NURTURE COMMITTEE

December Christmas Party -- A yearly event for Shalom, is the Christmas Caroling Party.  We are inviting someone to host it for this year, and are suggesting the following dates as
possible options:   Sunday, Dec. 9 or 16.  This is usually a chili and cornbread supper, with everyone helping provide those items.  Please respond to anyone on the Nurture
Committee;  Laura Pn, April Hks,  Miriam Wk, or Joy Kn Kg.

There will be a shower for Marcos Hd/Cy on Sunday, November 11, from 3-5p.m. at Joy and Titus' home.  For ideas of what they could use, check the web site
www.findgift.com/services/gift-registry/
.  Carolyn mentioned that they are OK for winter clothes, but could use size 2T for spring/summer.  They have been given a lot of 3T size.
Because of distance we encourage people to car pool.

A special thanks to Betsy Hy for baking the communion bread for our service today.
