Until January 13  the Sunday morning schedule will be as follows:

10:00-Worship begins

11:15-11:30: break for visiting  and refreshments

11:30-12:15:  discussion with the guest speaker. (Adults meet in the sanctuary with speaker. Youth attend Sunday School or at times meet with adults. Children K-5 attend activity time. Preschoolers and infants attend nursery).

Sunday School for elementary age and younger children occurs during church.  Children will be in the service until after the "children's time."  They will then go to their
Sunday School classes or to the nursery. They will have refreshments together with the adults between worship and adult Sunday School.  During adult Sunday School,
preschool children will be in the nursery until 12:15.
K-5 children will return to their Sunday School room for planned activities which will last until 12:15.  Preschool
children will have their Sunday School class in their old room.  Nursery will still be in the regular nursery room
Elementary age children will meet in the adult classroom with  the big table in it through the end of 2007.

There will be no Sunday School for children or adults on November 25, December 16, December 23, and December 30.   This means that children
will stay for the entire worship service except for the small children who go to the nursery.

We are in need of volunteers for nursery for dates when there is no Sunday School:  11/25, 12/16, 12/23, 12/30.  Please contact any member of the Nurture Committee (Joy K., Laura P., Miriam W., April H.) if you are available to help.

Christmas Pageant:  Gertrude Warkentin will coordinate the annual Christmas Pageant on December 16 this year.  It is a time when anyone/everyone? contributes to the
retelling of the old and always new story of Jesus’ birth, including more current stories of how the old story is brought to life today. This can be done in word, song, music,
action. Let her know about your contribution by December 10.

Anyone wishing to adopt a low-income family, senior, or single disabled adult in Washtenaw County and provide food for a holiday dinner and/or a small gift for each
family member, call  Gertrude Warkentin or e-mail, by Thanksgiving, or call
481-2049 directly ASAP.

The Nurture Committee is looking for someone to host the yearly Christmas Caroling Party. We suggest using a co-hosting approach. For example, those  who have
larger homes can offer the use of their home for the party. Other folks can help host the party (cleaning preparation, organizing food, clean up).  Please respond to anyone
on the Nurture Committee with questions and offers: Laura P., April H., Miriam W., or Joy K.

It is time to renew subscriptions for The Mennonite and The Messenger. Please contact April Hicks by 12/5 if you are interested in renewal or if you want to start a
new subscription. There are special discounts in place for students as well.  SCC will cover the cost of the subscriptions. Those who receive the subscriptions are
encouraged to make a donation to SCC to cover the cost, if financially able. April will also send out emails to those currently on the list for subscriptions.

Pageant Choir From Nelson Shantz:  I am hoping to assemble a choir for the Shalom Pageant on December 16.  I have a piece, “Beautiful Star of Bethlehem” for 4 part choir and piano.  It is a tuneful and lovely piece, pretty easy to learn and fun to sing.  I plan to have 2 rehearsals on Saturday,  December 1 and Saturday, December 8 from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. at my house Please e-mail or phone me to indicate your interest.

The end of the year is almost here.  Remember Shalom Community Church in your end of year giving plans.  If you would like to know how much money you have contributed to SCC from January 1 - November 18, 2007, please contact Anita Toews.  Of course, an end of year accounting for income tax purposes will be provided in January.

You can contribute money to Mennonite Church USA organizations in a single, secure credit/debit card transaction at giving.MennoniteUSA.org.

Church of the Brethren:  The Ministry Assistance Fund will face increased requests from pastors for aid to meet financial emergencies, especially because COB is
phasing out payments for  health insurance for ministers.  Congregations are invited to take special offerings for this fund.

Mennonite World Conference will be in Asuncion, Paraguay, July 14-19, 2009.  It is not too early to think about attending or about contributing money to sponsor attendees from the global South.  Costs are an average of about $2500.
