Call to worship

One:        We gather together to worship God in spirit and truth.

All          God, we thank you for giving us wisdom for the journey of life.

One:        Wisdom from God is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, willing to yield, full              of mercy and good fruits, without a trace of partiality or hypocrisy.[ Jam3:17]

All          God, we thank you for giving us courage for the journey of life.

One:        “Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord         your God is with you wherever you go.”  [Joshua 1:9]

All         God, we thank you for giving us hope for the journey of life.

One:        The thought of my affliction and my homelessness is wormwood and gall?            My soul continually thinks of it and is bowed down with in me.  But this I call
to mind and therefore I have hope:  The steadfast love of the Lord never      ceases, his mercy never comes to an end,…I will hope in God
[Lam 3:19-22]

All:         God, we are grateful for the wisdom, courage and hope you provide.

Words of challenge and words of wisdom to graduates

¨       A Graduation Prayer

Loving God, we pray that we would be attentive to you.

                Hear our prayer, O God.

We pray for the wisdom to make good choices in the face of so many options.

                Hear our prayer, O God.

We pray for grace to love you, your creation, our neighbor and ourselves.

                Hear our prayer. O God.

We pray that our faith in God will grow and be rooted in the beloved community

                Hear our prayer, O God.

We pray we will trust the sweet guest of your Holy Spirit within us.

                Hear our prayer, O God.

We pray for the courage to seek justice and make peace.

                Hear our prayer, O God.

We pray for strength to follow Christ and walk in the power of the resurrection.

                Hear our prayer, O God.

¨       A Graduation Blessing      Franciscan Blessing

May God bless you with discomfort at easy answers, half truths, and superficial   relationships, so that you may live deep within your heart.                  Amen

May God bless you with anger at injustice, oppression, and exploitation of people,              so that you may work for justice, freedom and peace.     Amen

May God bless you with tears to shed for those who suffer from pain, rejection,   starvation and war, so that you may reach out your hand to comfort them and to turn
 their pain

 into joy.                                                                Amen

May God bless you with enough foolishness to believe that you make a difference              in this world, so that you can do what others claim cannot be done.  Amen

May the peace of God and the God of peace be with you forevermore.     Amen

Today a time is provided for us to share ‘wisdom for the journey’ with our graduates from High School.  What word of challenge or wisdom would you be lead
to share with them?  What challenge or wisdom was shared at your graduation ?

The worship committee has decided that the worship service will begin at 11:00 am this summer.  On September 9, 2007 until January 1, 2008 the worship service
will begin at 10:00 am Please feel very free to contact any of the worship committee members with questions or comments.  Worship Committee: Rebecca We, Shelly
Wk, Tim Sh, Titus Kg, Paul Versluis

The last day of Sunday School for this academic year is today.  There will be no Sunday School during the summer, but it will resume on Sept. 9, during the church service for children 6th grade and under, and at 11:30 for adults and youth (7th grade up). (Please note:  church begins at 10am on Sept 9 and throughout the fall of 2007).

Pentecost 2007 to end poverty (sojo.net/pentecost) was hosted by Sojourners in Washington D.C. this weekend.  Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and John Edwards gave talks and workshops.  Misha Le will share of his experience next Sunday.

Next week we will meet at the Delhi Metro Park for a baptism and Potluck, beginning at 11AM  Sunday morning.  The annual youth auction will be held on June 17 rather than on June 10th.  The Dexter-Huron Park was full, so we were left with the Delhi Park.  The only way into the park is off Miller Road, going west out of Ann Arbor.  There is no access from Huron River Drive.  You will be charged a $4 entrance fee at the gate.  The church is happy to reimburse the $4.00 parking fee for anyone who requests it. Please see Shelly Wk to ask for a refund.
