Gathering hymn O worship the Lord HWB 124
Scripture reading John 15:1-17
L: The Master Gardener comes,
Ready to prune and trim the branches.
P: We
abide in the Vine.
L: The Gardener lops off withered branches
And removes dead blossoms for more growth.
P: We
abide in the Vine.
L: In due time, the Gardener harvests the fruit,
Juicy, ripe, and nourishing.
P: We are
fruit-bearing disciples
Who love and obey the
Vine and Vinedresser.
L: We are no longer called servants.
P: We are
called friends
Who know the
Master’s trade.
L: Let us boldly love and abide in the Vine,
Giver of complete joy.
P: We
joyfully abide in the Vine.
